The usb is defenitely usb 2.0. The laptop has a HP card in it and the usb dongle is from Gigabyte. I don't see why these two devices shouldn't be compatible. They are reletively new pieces of hardware.
I'm trying to connect my home desktop with my work laptop using a wireless link. The laptop has a built in wireless card so I bought a usb wireless dongle for the desktop.
At the moment I can connect (Ad-hoc) up fine using the "B" standard (11Mbps) but when I force the desktop dongle to use...
I have set up a wireless computer-to-computer (Ad hoc) network but the connection speed stays at 11Mbps and doesn't reach the G speed specification of 54Mbps. Both wireless cards are G compaible and have been set to run at G speeds. The connection has no WES or WPA enabled. What could be holding...
Thanks ski,
I managed to connect the HD to another computer and it worked fine, when I connected it back into my PC everything ran smoothly. Still don't know what the problem was but I'm happy as long as everything is working. Technology has strange ways!

I recently bought a Maxtor 160GB SATA drive as it was quicker and cheaper than it's ATA counterpart. I however didn't foresee this upgrade when choosing a motherboard and went for a board without SATA capabilities. I therefore had to purchase a SATA add-on card (Titan VSCom SATA-200).

Hey thanks guys, I tried disabling the onboard pri ide and removing the Nic from device manager but nothing worked. Then I tried going back to older BIOS updates which seems to fix the problem. Thanks for you help.
I recently purchased a serial ATA add-on card (Titan Silicon Sil3112 SATARaid controller). My mobo is a Giga-byte GA7-N400L.
Before I got the add-on card, everything worked fine but since I've installed it my Network card (incoporated into the Nvidia chipset) doesn't want to work. In the device...
I,ve just bought a AMD Athlon XP 2500 and a recommended fan and heatsink.
The heatsink came with a thermal pad. Should I rather remove the thermal pad and use thermal compound. Or is the thermal pad just as good?
I've recently purchased a Gigabyte nForce 2 400 Ultra Mobo and want to put a ATI card into my system but I was told of a conflict with the nforce chipset and ATI video cards.
I've heard that previous nforce chipset do not support ATI cards. (Chip manufaturers wars - Nvidia vs ATI).
Is it true...
Is there a major difference between DirectX 8 and DirectX 9 compatible video cards?
I've noticed on frame rate benchmarks that the difference in not big but when on a 3DMark2003 benchmark there is a considerable difference.
The Geforce TI4200 has better specs than the Geforce FX5200 but does...
Hey, thanks guys! That was something most so called "Computer Salesman" couldn't answer! That has cleared up things for me.
Thanks again! Twiggz
I'm upgrading to a Gigabyte Nvidia nForce 2 400 Ultra Motherboard and would like to take advantage of the Dual Channel Memory Controller but I'm not sure about what memory to install.
I'm going for two Transcend 256Mb CAS CL2 cards.
My Question is: Is there special "Dual Channel"...
