Oops! I just ftp'd to oldaix from a windows pc and it failed. I goofed on my earlier diagnosis. Could be just a password problem. Let me try a few things now that I have discovered that.
Thanks
Can't find ftp.allow, ftp.deny, netrc or a ftpusers file on either system. I am logging in as root and it's rejecting after the password, as if the password was incorrect. There is no password on "oldaix" for root.

Using this I am trying to compare the /bin directory on two hosts, one of which is named hostnew. Any ideas on how to distinguish the 2nd /bin as the oldhost?
Installed ldap.max_crypto_client.rte but still can't get libldap.a to point to /usr/ldap/lib/libibmldap.a... libibmldap.a did install when I installed ldap.max_crypto so that's some progress.

Thanks

I still can't get Samba to install but while researching the problem I came upon "AIX Fast Connect" which seems to be a replacement for Samba. Has anyone tried "AIX Fast Connect"?
Thanks
I downloaded a precompiled Samba3.0.10 and when I run any command, for example smbclient -L hostname, I get errors caused by "libldap.a(libldap-2.2.so.7) could not be loaded. So, I downloaded the libldap-2.2.23-alt2.i586.rpm but when I rpm it I get more dependency problems. Is there a better...
