I managed to rebuild the directory structure after I installed ID on my laptop, and all of the necessary fonts installed. I just copied all the fonts & folders from my laptop. You are absolutely right about what font was missing and causing ID to not load.
Thanks for the answer,
Laura

I have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled ID CS2 so many times I'm going to wear out the CD. I own it, and I just purchased it through Amazon.com. This is a common problem, but Adobe support doesn't seem to be helping anybody. I have Doc 324343, and have followed its advice strictly ...
Wow! What a great education from both of you guys!
I don't think I shall buy a no-name ... my current cd burner is a TEAC, and I have been using it successfully for 4 years!
Thank you so very much!

If I get one of the new DVD 8X double media, can I use any type of dvd media? Is the new one backwards compatible? I have a package of DVD+R 4.7 gb 4x ... will that work okay with it?
This is my first upgrade from a CD recordable drive.
Thank you, Laura

I own AC 12 for DOS, and my system has XP Pro on it. I have unsuccessfully tried a few things to get AC to run in a DOS window through XP. Are there any other strange people like me trying to do this, and have done it successfully?
Thanks in advance,

Great thought, John. And I do believe that the Wrox Beginning Access VBA books are actually better than the MS ones.
Thank you so much,

ROFL ... I hope your dog didn't have any severe medical problems after eating the cd. I appreciate your response, but it was worth a try asking. I have hidden all of my MS Access cd's from myself, which was probably my reaction after leaving my last MS Access job! (we won't go there)
Again...
This is a very strange request, and I hope someone can help me. I worked deeply in MS Access 2002 several years ago, but then moved on to other things. I want to re-establish myself in the MS Access world by starting with the MS Access Step by Step books that I have. However, I can't find the...
Thank you so much for your answers! I have put a gig of ram on my AMD K7 1500+, so I should be okay. I have been told by several people on PS Yahoo forums that I am full of it because I said that Adobe only guarantees the Intel processors with their products. I told them to go to the Adobe...
I have just upgraded to PS CS and while I have read that Adobe only guarantees the Intel processors for the Adobe products, is anyone using and AMD processor with it? If there are any problems, what are they?
Thanks, Laura

Thank you, bcastner ... your references aimed me at what the problem was ... Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5 had a corrupted file. I deinstalled, rebooted, then ran the restore CD rom drives to explorer, rebooted, and they magically reappeared!
Everyone, I really appreciate your help! To do a full CD...
Well, so far I have checked all connections, deinstalled the burner in XP, rebooted, and then tried to reinstall it, and did a total install (repair) of XP.
The bewildering thing to me is that CMOS finds it when I boot up, and then it disappears from XP.
Thanks, Laura (now looking for a new...
I have a Teac CD-W512EB CD burner which has been doing fine for over a year with XP. Yesterday it decided to disappear. If I uninstall it to let itself find itself again, it tells me that the drivers have a problem. How, I have a list of the drivers and have deleted them, but how do I get to...
Thanks for the info. I was not interested in putting XP Pro on this computer because it didn't need the heavy duty stuff on it. So I went with the XP Home. Yes, I do have a legal licensed OEM version of Pro.
Five years ago I networked our house. At that time we were on dial-up i'net connections...
Thank you MSeng ... when I went to the HP site, they did not list the XP drivers. And when I ran the MS installation program to see if the PC was ready, it promptly told me that my scanner was unsupported. And now I see it on the list. I did go ahead and get the XP Home, and I got big red letter...
So much for trying XP on this system ... my HP Scanjet 5370C doesn't seem to support anything above ME or Win 2000. I like this scanner, and have no desire to replace it.

Thank you for that information! And for the MS link, that I vaguely remembered from some years ago, and could not find. The other link I had never seen before, and will peruse thoroughly. It seems as if the Home version will be very adequate for my second computer.
Again, thank you, Laura...
I have a P2 450 on my home network that has passed the XP Upgrade Advisor analysis. I have XP Pro on one computer that is more substantial than the P2, so would like to put the Home version on the P2. What are the differences, besides $100.
Thanks in advance,
Laura
