    Exchange 2000 down cannot start due to virus.

    You could have tried exmerge to extract the mailboxes to .pst's then you would have had mail up until the time it went down. Just did this sort of thing recently :)

    Well I have found the prob and it was that some servers wern't recieving the mail within the alloted time period so exchange resent them the mail. Thanks for the input though.

    You tried to do an nslookup using an internal address try doing the nslookup using the external address and see if you get a reply.
