Did complete installation of AIX 5.2 over 4.3.3 and then installed maintenance package 520102.
Plan to install Oracle 9i later but wanted to sort out this update_all problem.

oslevel -r shows this output 5200-01
Checked the smit.log and it shows installation is success or that is what I think but on the smit screen it said failed?
Is there a way of checking which compulsory filesets is required for this version?

I did clean installation of AI 5.2 on pSeries 6E1 this morning and ran smitty update_all which I assumed should be a straight forward task but for some reason it failed and I do not know what is the cause for it?
Any idea why?

Trying to save costs, the technican decided to install the IBM PCI graphics card on pSeries 6E1. I installed the required AIX 4.3.3 device PCI before installing the card and it came out as installation successful. Then we installed the card and started the server, it hung with 0581 error...

Yes I did and I am now downloading another patch, I think the file may have got corrupted while transferring it from my PC to server so this time I am downloading it to a windows 2000 server and plan to transfer it directly to pSeries server.

I downloaded the following Oracle 9i patch and aix unzip file, I uncompressed aix zip file although the instructions are not clear as it stated put it in /usr/local/bin directory but I want to unzip the patch within oracle_base directory i.e. /u01/oracle.
I tried to unzip the oracle...
For your information, I am using AIX 5.2 (some say this fix should be included this version?)

Well this aix "consultant" came here few days ago and removed the faulty disk from pSeries without checking if it is a mirror copy of the rootvg !
I have requested for another aix consultant so wanted to list all the task before he comes on site and make sure we follow the tasks/procedures.

I am aware microsoft servers do have it but what abt ibm servers?

We dont have oracle batch job running only scripts to do backups, updating the database etc but they ran before midnight so all was ok until this morning when I had few script jobs to run and it failed that is how I discovered the sys date was set for 2am not 8:56am!!
