When is it time to have more than one VLAN?

Yes all the connection problems were across our internet connection. We have decided to move one more ecommerce server inside our building here to avoid internet connection slow downs for retrieving order info. This will leave just the web server away from us. We are going to get a T1 to help...

When is it time to have more than one VLAN?

Our internet connection is broadband. 8mb down 1.5mb up. I was actually thinking of having ALL cables tested. Over the weekend I started using OpenDNS.com for forwarding DNS requests. This tightens up security a bit for my whole network. Not sure if it's related but so far the speed issues...

    Forwarding messages with CATEGORIES intact

Is it possible for customized categories in Outlook 2007 to be forwarded when a message that uses the category is forwarded? They seem to get stripped out upon forwarding and I can't locate a setting that allows this.

When is it time to have more than one VLAN?

Thank you for the help! Do you have any suggestions for a really good wire tester? I can rent expensive testers without too much resistance for the expense. Re-testing everything makes sense. The Dell switch is fully manageable and the 3coms are "Web Smart" which is almost manageable but...

When is it time to have more than one VLAN?

How are your 14 switches connected to each other? (copper, fiber, stack cable, etc...)Answer: Everything is CAT5 and better, twisted pair. What's the condition of your cabling infrastructure? (CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6, etc...) Answer: Everything is CAT5 and better, twisted pair. We tested all our...

When is it time to have more than one VLAN?

At what point is it best to have more than one VLAN? We have about (14) 10/100/1000 switches now, about 300 devices, in a star pattern and only use the default VLAN 1. How bad is that? I'd like to minimize the broadcast traffic as I think it's slowing down my network.

Certificate Testing Senario - need advise

What doesn't make sense to me is that the existing cert has two levels, one expired after a year and the other is 10 years. I didn't create it like that with MS. If the existing one is left alone and does expire, does anything stop working or do warnings just pop up?

Certificate Testing Senario - need advise

I have purchased a "real" certificate from Digicert for my exchange 2007 server. Is there a way for me to install this and test it for both Outlook 2007 / OWA... and if it fails how can I revert back to my home-grown currently working cert (that will expire in 2 weeks)? I'm really worried that...

Can VM Pro call a list of employees on a snow day?

Management didn't like the email idea because it requires effort to check before going to work. We were closed for 1/2 the day on Monday because of snow and about a dozen people showed up at the normal time. They are supposed to call on bad days and listen for a message from the president...

Can VM Pro call a list of employees on a snow day?

Can the advanced features of VM Pro 3.2(36) be used to easily call 140 employees to say work is canceled due to bad weather? I want the president to be able to call in and trigger the phone system to call all the employees and say work is canceled. I get a call from my sons school when school...

Anyone have real SP1 feedback yet?

Open the Exch Management Console. Under Server Config select Hub Transport. On the Receiver Connector tab open each receive connector. Enter the Netbios name of the server in the lower box (write down what is already there). The exact netbios name can be found by looking at the properties of...

Exporting a comprehensive email address list

Thanks for the info MarkArnold. I made that tweak and so far all my tests from outside have been working fine. I have one off-topic question for you as you seem to be quite comfortable with Exchange. Is there any way to prevent internal mail from one internal user to another (same domain and...

Exporting a comprehensive email address list

In Ex2007 SP1 (which I'm running)that tab's option is: "Block messages not listed in the Global Address List" My concern is that I have some objects set to "hide from exchange address lists" but they receive mail now. Would they be blocked if they aren't showing in the GAL?

Exporting a comprehensive email address list

That is exactly how we do it now. The problem is that a lot of crap arrives and then sits in a reject queue because those are also fake "from" addresses. I was just thinking keep as much crap off my server as possible.

Exporting a comprehensive email address list

We now use an outside service to filter our email for spam and viruses. It will work better if I can provide a list of valid email addresses so all others can be deleted before even getting to our internal servers. Is there any easy way to export all the valid email addresses, including mail...

    IPO 412 3.2(59) Spontaneously Rebooting

We've been running 3.2(59)for two months and now the phone system is rebooting in the middle of the day at random times. What should I be looking at to resolve this? Are there bugs in vm or phone manager that users might be triggering a reboot? -Help

Anyone have real SP1 feedback yet?

Anyone have real SP1 feedback yet?

If you just run the SP1 installer (without running the AD prep commands) does it automatically add the "Exchange Public Folder Administrators" security group to AD? This is new in SP1 and I'd like someone who only ran the SP1 installer to look for this in the Exchange security groups in active...
