    clean light on every day...

We have had a similar problem to the one described by adsfx, so I followed the steps given by Shaunmcb but unfortunateately haven't had any luck. The device analysis test does indeed suggest that the drive may need recalibration, but when this is attempted the recalibration process will fail...

    RIS Boot Disk Problem

Ok, well any help you can give is appreciated. It has not yet been an issue for us either, since all PC's that we've setup with RIS so far have used PXE bootable onboard LAN. The problem will come when we go to setup one that doesn't have onboard LAN, and use one of our Realtek RTL8139 cards...

    RIS Boot Disk Problem

No, the RIS/FTP server is on a different box to the DHCP/DNS/Active Directory - basically all the Windows components RIS needs to work are on a separate server. Did you never manage to get the boot disk to work with this setup? Its just it isn't really possible for us to run RIS from the same...

    Need help on DirectX

Sounds like it's probably best to download and run the installer fully again. You can get it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=141d5f9e-07c1-462a-baef-5eab5c851cf5&displaylang=en Hope that helps.

    RIS Boot Disk Problem

This works fine when doing a direct PXE boot from the LAN card, but what I was saying is that when using an RBFG.exe (Windows 2000 version) created boot disk for any card (including 3Com cards that are on the support list), it will not work. The RTL8139 is on the support list of the Windows...

    RIS Boot Disk Problem

We have a Remote Installation Services server, that is able to work correctly with clients that are booting directly from their LAN adapter, but will not work when using the RIS boot disk. I have had to create the disk with the Windows 2003 Server version of RBFG.exe, as the adapter being used...

Prevent hangup when phone picked up?

I have just tried entering "AT S10=?" in Hyperterminal and the value returned is "000". Since there are no Windows XP drivers available for my modem, I simply have it installed as "56k Data Fax Modem PnP". Sorry to keep asking these questions, but how do I set the...

Prevent hangup when phone picked up?

I realise that it's normal behaviour, but I was basically just looking for a way to get around the problem of other people picking up the phone without realising the Internet is in use and ending the connection. Thanks a lot for your help, I will try this if you could just point me to where...

Prevent hangup when phone picked up?

I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to prevent the behaviour whereby when the phone is picked up (connected to same line as 56k modem), the modem simply drops the line. This can be frustrating and I so far failed to find a solution, any help is appreciated! My OS is Windows XP.

Various .sys files causing system to hang at boot

If you still want to get to the recovery console, you should be able to by booting from your XP cd. At the first prompt, press R to repair using the console rather than ENTER to install. If you can't do it this way then perhaps selecting the auto repair option from the next prompt may help?

    external cd-r problem

I don't know if this will be much help to you, but I hve had a problem in Windows XP, where an external Freecom CDRW would not be recognised unless the version of Easy CD Creator that it came with was installed. Installing the software from a different CD (supposedly same version) wouldn't work...

9700 Pro locking up my system

What is the OS? If 2K/XP is there anything to be found in the event logs after you reboot? Also are you using the latest drivers for all hardware (i.e. motherboard chipset, video card, etc.)? I have found overheating to be a cause of this with both my last 2 video cards (Geforce3 Ti200 & a...

Pop-Up windows when I am surfing the Internet

Or you could try Mozilla... www.mozilla.org A Popup blocker is one of the many advantages over IE, some of the others being a built-in download resumer and tabbed browsing (so don't have to open multiple windows like IE).

    Suspected PSU Issue

An update:- My thoughts about the CPU turned out to be right it would seem - had the machine running games all day w/o incident on a borrowed CPU, so went ahead and got hold of a new one for myself. Thanks a lot for your help! smah - I checked voltages in the Gigabyte Utility and these seemed...

3/4 through boot I get 2 clicks, then black screen

The two clicks sound like they would be coming from the hard drive - some drives make these as they begin to spin up (i.e. when booting or coming out of standby for example). Perhaps this is where you need to be looking for your problem?

    Suspected PSU Issue

I was able to borrow a decent 400W PSU, here's how it went: I left my machine running a game all night without a crash, then after a few minutes of play in the morning a lockup occurred. Upon trying a couple more times, first the machine rebooted, then another lockup. The PSU I am testing with...

    Suspected PSU Issue

I tried multiple driver versions of the Geforce3 card and this didn't help, though the only ATI ones I've used are the latest ones - seems unlikely to be a driver thing since I've had it with two cards? Motherboard chipset drivers (VIA 4in1's) are the latest, though I have also tried older...

    Suspected PSU Issue

When I first setup my PC the video card was a 64Mb Radeon VE/7000, and the system ran fine. However, I decided this card wasn't adequate for my gaming needs and so upgraded to a 128Mb Geforce3 Ti200 - here's where the problem began. After installing this card I started experiencing system...

    Mailbox Replication

Is there any way of having mailboxes replicate between two Exchange 2000 servers, so that they could be held in two different mailbox stores? The two servers are on different sites and at present if a user's mailbox is held on the mailbox store at the opposite location from where they are...
