Friends,
I'm curious as to what neat things people are doing to improve the interface of their Access applications. Has anyone seen any really noteworthy, flashy or clever interfaces?
Seems to me that I mostly see drab UIs that are immediately identifiable as Access: you know what I mean...
Make sure you don't have firewall software running.
That often bollixes up these little P2P networks.
You can also just go tried and true:
Make one computer 192.168.0.1, and the other .2. Netmask 255.255.255.0
Turn on filesharing. Connect to hub. Enjoy.

Greg,
The thing I may not have conveyed is that the machine will crash under any sustained load. The programs given were just examples.
I would posit that the CPU is throwing off too much heat for the machine to handle. Just why it would crash in this precise way is a subject of fascination...
As far as the password appearing "too long," I seem to recall that Windows Dial-up Networking always shows about an eight character ******** password placeholder regardless of what the actual one is.
I know this will do nothing to help your problem, but there it is FWIW.
Greetings,
I have a not well-loved Compaq notebook with XPP. It crashes -- simply shuts down -- in a fascinating fashion under heavy load (i.e. many programs open).
Particularly when running greedy programs like Illustrator and DreamWeaver along with Media Player, I get this crash.
What...
Well it does the blank page trick like this
Page1 - Page2 - Page3 - Page 4
[DATA] [BLANK] [DATA] [BLANK]
"1 of 2" "2 of 2"
It does it in print preview, too. I am printing to a PDF output. Now, when I remove the subreport, I do indeed get from the...
Wow...that was easy. Thanks Lupins (Dennis Moore!).
Still wondering why I am printing a blank page. Interestingly, the blank page doesn't seem to count towards the page total as Access sees it: I have three printed pages but the footer still reads 1/2 2/2.
**I accidentally posted this in 'Forms!' Sorry for any confusion **
Friends,
I am having some odd problems with a very basic A2k report...actually the subreport. I hope these are not FAQs.
On my subreport, when it is displayed on its own, the page headers display. When it's dispayed as a...
Friends,
I am having some odd problems with a very basic A2k report...actually the subreport. I hope these are not FAQs.
On my subreport, when it is displayed on its own, the page headers display. When it's dispayed as a subreport of another report, the page headers go away. What am I...
Hi guys,
This relationship is more confusing than the DNA Paternity Test special on the Jerry Springer Show! (errr...don't have me shot for that lame joke hehe)
My application tracks, among a bazzillion other things, training for various members of my company.
After much research I've...
Thanks Marc.
Let me parade my ignorance.
If I split the file up, how does one configure Outlook so that it can look at multiple .psts simultaneously?
In other words, we'd want a:
2003
2002
etc.
This user likes to see ALL of his email from ALL TIME.
Thank you for your great response.

Hi friends,
Had an installation of Outlook XP (2002) on XPP.
The PST to which the user archives his older emails is right around 1.6GB. I had heard there is a max size for a PST, but it's around 2GB.
It's "disappeared" a coupla times. He just points to it in File etc and it comes...
Norm,
I recall it's being quite expensive, well over $150 per w/s, which really added up for me. But it's a browser based software that's braindead to setup. Very easy.
I have no idea what it is $$$wise now. ACE
Well, one of the programs is Word, and I don't see calibrate on there. I could be wrong.
Print Preview works/looks flawless. Another odd symptom.
Thanks. ACE
Norm,
If you have a budget: http://www.netkey.com/
They have a kiosk OS/interface that would be perfect.
I used them in 150 retail locations on a project. You can control exactly what gets run.
I'm pleased to see these guys still in biz. Thought for sure they would be dotcom casualties.

Hi guys,
I've somehow inherited a tiny network at a church. There is an ancient NT4 server and three XPP workstations. There are two small HP laser printers or recent vintage but whose exact model I forget, that are shared out (as opposed to being networked).
Spontaneously it seems, the...
R-Studio didn't get any results. After scanning, we tried "recover all files" and got garbage.
We're trying GetDataBack one more time...
Yes, giving up is an option at this stage.
