Time to jump into BCM? Newbie planning...

Grrr... it somehow clipped a part out of the middle. Either that or my multiple personalities are popping up again. Anyways, I was saying there's a system available locally. Bit more than I want to spend, but it comes with a bunch of phones that I can resell. As a bonus, the original vendor...

Time to jump into BCM? Newbie planning...

Repairs and programming aren't an issue for me. I built, programmed, and maintained our 8x24 system and our AD, so this can't be much more difficult than that. I was more concerned with the availability of parts and upgrades. From what I've read, I'm assuming it's equipped with: -Enterprise...

Time to jump into BCM? Newbie planning...

Well, I've been wanting to move to BCM for a while now. We're currently running an 8X24 DR5.1 expanded to 16x40 with a Flash4. We also have a half dozen rental units, each with a separate POTS line. What struck me was the low prices I've seen for BCM 400s lately. Made me think harder about...

Music on hold silence causes held line to hang up

Maybe it's a timer in the KSU that starts dropping lines after a preset amount of time, and that just happens to coincide with the silence. i.e. after 5 minutes, there just happens to be silence. I'm not sure what to suggest, as our 8x24 has never dropped someone on hold. (That I know of) You...

    Upgrading a StarTalk Flash

Weird how it broke the link, and I can't seem to edit. Anyways, I want to give credit where credit is due. I originally found that info in thread799-675217

    Upgrading a StarTalk Flash

Well I was bored so I went ahead with the upgrade. Smooth as butter. Since I had so much fun finding the instructions, I thought I'd post it again here. I followed the steps in Post #2 here [COLOR=blue]To perform a StarTalk Flash software upgrade: Open the module front door. Remove the...

    BCM DOWN!!!!!

Quoting tech2233: "How does a major manufacturer like Nortel release a product like BCM 3.6 and then come out with 80 patches to fix the product. What was so wrong with the product in the first place that they have to keep patching and patching ?" Two words... Win Doze Do you realize that...

    Upgrading a StarTalk Flash

Does anyone know if there's a table of all the changes between versions? Our expanded Flash is running ver. 1.9.0 on our 8x24 DR5.1 I've got a 2.0.10 card here out of another Startalk Flash, and I'm wondering what's new, or if there are any valid reasons for me to upgrade? So far the only...

    BCM DOWN!!!!!

Well the root cause of the bad capacitors can't be blamed on Nortel. Lots of OEMs got hurt by bad capacitors resulting from faulty industrial espionage... http://www.badcaps.net/causes/ That being said, the manufacturer or the vendor shouldn't leave you high and dry with a product that was...

Headset jack disables handset on M7310?

I just had to deal with this same issue this week. Our headsets disable the other modes on our M7208s and M7310s. You have to pull the quick disconnect, which drops you back to speakerphone, and then pick up the handset if you want to talk privately. There is a 1-second delay when you pull...

    Flash Busy ?

Heh, I just upgrade my Flash from 2 to 4 channels not 30 minutes ago. Smooth as ice. From what I gather it seems like the system is sending the internal users to the wrong extension. For example, my system the Flash is on 244, and the second port is 243. The DNs in sequence are: 244, 364...

Are 'M' series sets and 'T' series sets compatible?

What chance do I have running T7316s on an 8x24 DR5.1 ? Wouldn't hurt to try and get some brownie points from our accounting department ;^)

    LCD Interchangability

Anyone know where I can get LCDs replaced? (or replacement LCDs for that matter) I've got a half dozen M7208s with bad displays. A couple are early Rev#s, the rest are fairly new. Fixing the LCD must surely be cheaper than replacing the whole unit. ~Thanks in advance

FastRAD and 8x24 - need to back up

Sorry for bringing this up again... I read through all the posts I found yet I still haven't got an answer. OK... just had my 8x24 default itself... Fortunately I recorded all the settings on paper when I was fixing my last problem. What's really funny is I just got a FastRAD yesterday, and I...

Arrg... system changed from 2-digit to 3-digit DNs

Thanks for all your help Brian... I managed to convince the boss that 3-digit DNs were the way to go. Reset the Startalk Flash tonight, went smoothly. As a bonus, I think a VM reset was long overdue. We were getting occasional audio glitches and so forth. I figure the solid state storage can...
