I get a lot of FTP attacks - mostly from Asia and a few from Europe. If it is an US IP, and it filled my log file, I report it to the ISP's abuse address. I have hear back so I assume I am just wasting my time.

I think you have to ensure the backup is not shutting down after a certain period. I thought, by default, it was 72 hours.

I agree. If you run any IIS services, there are folks out there constantly trying to break into FTP sites. Need to make sure you dod not leave any back doors open let alone unlocked.

My son's laptop had a similar problem about two years ago - his computer's could not support XP SP2 and a separate firewall. Uninstalling the third party firewall and letting XP use its own fixed that problem. My laptop had a similar problem, although my desktop and Server Small Business...
Well, I gave up on that crippled install, copied the boot to an array and reinstalled the OS, clean, on a formated boot. Humming now.

I tried reinstalling over an existing install and it thinks I am upgrading to OEM and does not allow me to fully install the server - so far, IIS is partially crippled and Sharepoint is not installed. Once I copy my files, I intend to do a fresh install.

Here is an update - could not get past that point in the install so I went the more destructive route of re-installing over the original installation. It cleared out the old settings but, thankfully, my IIS files were spared. Will be moving that to the other drive to avoid a similar problem in...
