Error 1606: Could not access Network location 0

Well, I took ownership and then granted Read/Write permissions to FAMILYDESKTOP\Administrators. I also checked my registry key values against those in the Win7 tables of MS KB886549 I un/re-installed Adobe Reader under the built-in Administrator and still got the same error. Then I thought...

Error 1606: Could not access Network location 0

Karlis, wow, do I hope you're right! Last night I was doing something - that I thought was unrelated: I right-clicked on another program in the list of Add/Remove Programs - and chose "Change/Uninstall" - it thought for a while and then gave me the same awful 1606 error. And this program was...

Force scanning of USB "thumb drives"

How can I configure Norton so when I plug in a USB thumb/flash drive, it automatically begins a scan of the USB drive --- or at least the files that the user is attempting to open? I used to get an option to scan - now it doesn't even prompt me to scan at all. How can I force a scan everytime...

Error 1606: Could not access Network location 0

I tried from the built-in Administrator account, but "EDIT" was disabled. I could only view.

Error 1606: Could not access Network location 0

And it seems even admin accounts cannot change permissions on the Programs Files/x86 folders!... Weird. Well, thanks for all of your help!

Error 1606: Could not access Network location 0

It didn't work! I uninstalled: Acrobat.com Adobe AIR Adobe Reader 9.3 under the Administrator account then reinstalled Adobe Reader. I then disabled the Administrator account and got the same error in another Windows account! Honestly, I can use the alternate PDF reader...

Error 1606: Could not access Network location 0

...and that "Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX"?

Error 1606: Could not access Network location 0

Getting back to "ArizonaGeek"/Rob's suggestion... I installed Adobe Reader with the Administrator account. When I went back into a different Windows account, though, and right-clicked on Adobe Reader in Add/Remove Programs and selected "Change" from the context menu, I got that same error as...

Error 1606: Could not access Network location 0

OK, didn't know that - thanks for the clarification! So after Adobe is working (hopefully!) can I then disable the Administrator account - or do I need to leave it enabled?

Norton 360 AND Malware Bytes, etc.???

cmeagan, you don't find that running them all slow down your system?

Error 1606: Could not access Network location 0

Rob, it sounds like you know what you're talking about!!! Hooray! :-) I have a stand-alone (non-networked PC) and am running Home Premimum - so I think that part about Groups doesn't apply. Is it the same thing if I create a brand new "Windows account" on my PC with admin rights and install...

Acronis True Image Home 2010: "Run task..." option unchecks itself!

When I put a checkmark in the "Run task only if the current device is attached", it is not saved - when I go to edit the task again, the checkbox is cleared. The other checkbox ("If missed, run the task when device is attached") remains checked. Anyone else have this? Is there a way to get...

UAC: what kind of permissions are given?

My wife is a not a techie but she (along with me) is an admin on our home PC. If my kids do "something" to get a UAC prompt, is there no way for her to know the effect of entering her password before she does so?! That seems bizarre! Isn't there some rule for allowing a program to run or...
