I may need to use NetBackup where the master server will be in a different LAN to the clients. Which ports will NetBackup need opened to get through a firewall? This will probably be the Enterprise edition version 5.1. Thanks.

Hello all. I'm getting this error message on one of our backup servers: - An attempt to write data base end of media has failed. We are running BE9.1 on a Win 2003 server. All the data appears to be getting backed up we just get this error message at the end. Any ideas what it means? Thanks.

I'm running Backup Exec 9.1 on a Win 2000 server. It just backs up itself. The job is set to backup the C:, D:, E: and system state. However when the backup actually runs I get the C:, D:, E: drives and SS then C$, D$ and E$ get backed up. These are not selected or even visible in the selection...

The 1st thing I would try is to stop then re-start the Backup Exec services. This sometimes get's the backup jobs going again.

I finally sorted it. I needed the correct UNC for the mail server I was to use for forwarding the notification. It was not just the NetBios name.

I'm using Backup Exec 8.6. I'm trying to catalog 3 tapes. 2 go fine but the 3rd will not catalog. I get the error message:- Warning: This storage media is out of sequence. I've gone to :- tools - options - catalog and un-ticked use stoarage media based catalogs. I still get the same problem...
