The RANDBETWEEN function, which generates integer random numbers within a range, does not work in Excel 2003. As in previous versions, it's part of the Analysis ToolPak add-in, but in 2003, installing the Analysis ToolPak does NOT activate RANDBETWEEN. I assume this is one of those oversights that Microsoft will fix. Does anybody know of this problem?. Sure, I can use a workaround (the RAND function with a multiplier and the INT function and all that), but I want RANDBETWEEN the way I've been using it for the last seven years.

I see you already got it working, but if you ever need it, Rand() can be used also, like this:

=INT(RAND()*1000), with 1000 being the maximum number.

You should be aware that Microsoft changed the calculation engine that generates the random numbers in Office 2003, and inadvertantly left it with a bug that will eventually generate negative numbers with enough successive iterations. They are working on a fix that is currently in beta, and that should be released soon. This also affects RANDBETWEEN, so be careful depending on what you are using it for.
