ZOOM SHORT CUT DOESN'T WORK 1

I AM USING ILLUSTRATOR CS
CTRL+ DOESN'T ZOOM IN ALL THE TIME. SOMETIMES IT DOES.
CTRL- WORKS FINE AND GOING TO VIEW AND CLICKING ZOOM IN WORKS FINE. ANY SUGESTIONS?

Number pad vs the ones under the F Keys may make a difference. Try them both to see if it matters. I've had that issue before, I think on PC, but I can't remember what program it was. Worth a shot though.

SIGNAL 49, THAT WORKS, I DON'T LIKE IT, BUT IT WORKS. THE CTRL- WORKS OFF THE KEY PAD. WISH THE CTRL+ DID.
