Question

Our installer that installed our VOIP system about a year ago installed all of our VOIP (30 to 35) phones on Zone 0. I know your not supposed to use Zone 0 because you can't control the bandwidth with Zone 0.

My question is how and how do I know what settings to make on Zone 1, Zone 2, and etc....

I know we plan on rolling out about 100 VOIP phones to a building as early as next week. I would like to put them on either Zone 1 or Zone 2, but I'm not sure what settings to make for the zones.

Thanks

Are all the phones at one site or spread around a network?

If at one site (using LAN only) then just put in at default 1000000 BQ 1000000 BQ.

If they are spread around the network at different sites you need to look at the bandwidth/Codec to the remote sites.

Remember the VGW TN's are also probably in Zone 0 and will need moving into the new Zone with the phones.

Also, make sure to think through and enginneer 911 - emergency services access when rolling out the additional IP phones.

Yes, we only have this one site. So it looks like I can use the default but just put all the phones in Zone 1. We currently only have about 30 to 35 IP Phones right now but we will be adding about 100 phones within the next couple of weeks.

We also use E911 for our Emergency Services, but I don't take care of that. Another person does that.

I do appreciate the help.

Thank You

I just took notice that our VGW are set to Zone 0, but I have my phone set to Zone 1 and it still works. Do I need to set both VGWs to Zone 1?

Yes you need to change it from zone 0. What will happen is the calls will not tear down and your usage will climb to 100% and you will start having proglems.

As tnphoneman said they need moving just out them all and put them back in Zone 1.
