We have a remote site with 6 VoIP extensions connected to a CS1K at our head office. The bandwidth at the remote site is set to 128k - with 4.2 channels.

We were expecting that this would limit us to having a maximum of 4 concurrent calls in progress at the reomte site.

However, we're able to make simultaneous calls to all 6 VoIP extensions.

We were expecting that when 4 calls are in progress new callers would receive busy tone or at the very least fail to connect.

Any ideas?

If you have 128k of bandwidth and your QOS is set to BB (best bandwidth G7.29) you should be able to run up to 9 calls. 8k + overhead = about 13k into 128k.

Thanks. The Codec we're using is G729a - does this make any difference to your reply?
