Hello all, I have a question regarding the Zmodem protocol. I have been doing modem connections between two modems and tranferring files between them to test thruput speeds. The problem I am seeing is that with a Zmodem transfer, I see many CRC errors and retransmissions. Sometimes the transfer even terminates because it has seen too many errors. The line is clean and the modem should not be receiving any errors. When I switch it over to a Ymodem transfer, I don't see any errors and the file always goes through ok. Can anyone think of a reason for this?? Thanks in advance...

If you are just going modem-to-modem without using a Dial-Up Networking connection, then I cannot think of anything off the top of my head that would cause.

What kind of system are you connecting to? If it's a Unix machine, what command line parameters are you using? And when you mention you used Ymodem, I imagine it was true Ymodem and not Ymodem-g, which does not perform error correction?

Thanks Knob for your input. I actually found the solution on my own. Turns out that I had the Flow control all messed up in my modem connections properties. Once I turned on H/W flow control, everything started to work. Thanks once again..
