I have a couple of questions about ZEN and I hope that I can get some answers pretty quick so that I can get it up and running.

Can the ability to "stealth" remote in to a users workstation be "locked" down so that a user cannot secretly watch what someone is doing on that workstation?

We are going to implement DHCP either thru Novell or thru Microsoft's verison. However, a couple questions come to mind. Does it matter whether I use novell or mircosoft to run the DHCP? How does ZEN register a workstation who's IP address changes?

Thanks for all the help.

My opinion.. Use Novell for everything. Keep as much stuff off of Microsoft as possible. Besides, do you want your DNS to fail every time your MS servers crash? If DNS fails, your whole network is pretty much down. Put it on Novell where it's rock solid.

About Zen.. When a workstation registers with the import agent, it resolves the DNS name "ZENWSIMPORT". It doesn't matter if the ip address of the workstation changes. It will be updated in NDS next time it imports. You have to make sure you have a DNS entry called "ZENWSIMPORT" that points to the server running the Import policy.

About your first question, I'm not sure what you're getting at. Everything on the remote screen passes through to yours. If you do something, they will see it. There is an option to allow blanking of the screen, but I have not used it myself. On other remote software that I have used, it never worked as designed.

The anwser to your first question is yes, you can set the settings first so that only certain users have rights to do a remote view of another workstation, and you can set it so that the user of the pc your going to view must give permission before the connection is made.

Check the novell cool solutions. I remember back in the zen2.0 days there was a document out there on using Zenworks to convert static to DHCP on the workstations. I don't know if it is still there or how well it works, just one of those things I remember seeing.

You can setup remote control so that the end workstation is prompted for permission to allow remote control, display a visual notification, and beep all to let a user know you are there. Or you can disable them all. With Zen4 at least there is also an option to blank the screen and lock the keyboard so the user can not interfere.

Thanks for all the replies, but the question about the stealth mode in ZEN, is this.

Can I, as the surpeme administrator, restrict the rights of a container administrator so that he cannot change the remote control options, from say requiring permission form the user, to being able to remote in in stealth mode?

Can You tell me how to Adjust the attrbitutes on those users that I do not want to be able to change the remote control mode.

Also I have a couple of questions about the DNS/DHCP,

can novell's DNS be set up to take the place of microsoft's (which is required for) Active Directory?

Does Novell's DNS accept dynamic DNS entries? Does it allow for self regisitration into the DNS?

Thanks for all your help.
