Hi,

I am trying to connect a "Zebra TLP 2844" printer to an Cisco Access Server 2500 series via it's Async port. It has a DB9 female connection on the back.

From the website the pinouts for the RJ45 end of the async port are as follows.

1 CTS
2 DSR/DCD
3 RXD
4 RX/GND
5 TX/GND
6 TX
7 DTR
8 RTS

I have followed the serial wiring interace diagram from the website (RS-232) but aren't having any luck with printing.

I have set the port speed on the Cisco to 9600/Parity None/Stop bits 1, as per default on the Zebra printer.

Has anyone created a headshell for this purpose before? Any ideas?

Regards

I don't think the problem is with the cable but with the fact that the port isn't configured to be a printer port.

Any ideas on how the line should be configured on the cisco??
The settings I have are:

line 5
no exec-banner
length 0
width 0
transport input all
stopbits 1

The data seems to go through the as when I do a "sh li" the number of "Uses" increases each time I send a print job through.

Tty Typ Tx/Rx A Modem Roty AccO AccI Uses Noise Overruns
5 TTY 9600/9600 - - - - - 21 33 0/0

Thanks for your help.

It seems to me the ports on the back are for terminals or modems to configure the server and the db60 with a breakout cable is where you connect the devices.
