Hi guys.

I need to calculate YTD-P which is for the last year ie. 2004/Jan -> 2004/June or in other words x/Jan -> x/June depending on the selected dimension.

this is so that I can compare with the current year's YTD

The problem is there's no way that I can work out how to do this in mdx.

Anyone have any ideas ? any help is appreciated.

Thankyou
Tom

I'm not talking about parallel period. You can't parallel period this as far as I know.

I need to specify begining of the year which is always variable ? Thats why you can only use ytd for the current year. How can you do it with parallel periods?
how can you specify begining of the year like 1/1/x ?as in 1st jan x= year

Thanks
Tom

Why is the beginning of the year a variable?
The parallelperiod function is designed to specifically work with this issue.
If the currentmember property of year is 2005 then the parallelperiod is 2004 if you set the offset to 1. If the currentmember of year is 2004 then the parallelperiod is 2003 etc.
