What server are you trying to back up? For instance, is it a SQL Server? Exchange Server? And do you have the appropriate module piece for that? For instance, with Exchange, you need the Exchange Agent, otherwise, it will have failures almost all the time. Same with SQL Agent. We go the appropriate modules, and they seem to be working fine now, other than one issue on the SQL Server with e-mail that I can't figure out yet...

I have a pervasive database and yes once in a while someone will leave it open I'll a message on that but I am more concerned with below

The error I am concerned with is
Error on HA:0 ID:6 LUN:0 SEAGATE DAT 06240-XXX.
A hardware error has been detected during this operation. This tape should
not be used for any additional backup operations. Data written to this tape
prior to the error may still be restored.
SCSI bus timeouts can be caused by a tape drive that needs cleaning, a SCSI
bus that is too long, incorrect SCSI termination, or a faulty device. If the
drive has been working properly, clean the drive or replace the tape and
retry the operation.

I would trying running the diag utility from Certance (Seagate) and see if the unit is functioning properly. Also you might want to try a new cable or new SCSI card.

I work for a tape repair company and the code in the Sense Data is an actual failure we send off for repair.
