I've caught alot of flak for this but I like to keep my tower outside. In a closet on a covered patio of course. I just bought extensions and a wireless keyboard system and ran the tower outside. I live in utah so there isn't any humidity to worry about. On an average night its about below zero about now. My temps drop about 25f. I'm not saying its a bright idea but a free way to drop my 2600+ temps from 50c to 35c and system temp from 41c to 19c, its worth a try. With the help of a volcano 7 and a 80mm fan of course. Whats your take on this idea.

What do you do during the day, or when it gets hot? It definitely would not work in Chicago.

As long as damp isn't a problem at night and heat isn't a problem during the day? don't forget you still need ventilation so the air doesn't heat up in the enclosed space. Make sure everthing is waterproof.
Lastly, be careful of the bugs and the rodents (they make an aweful mess of wiring) Martin

I think a chest freezer would work nicely.

I don't think its a bad idea at all. I once made the mistake of buying a Kingwin computer case and power supply. The burning plastic smell was over powering.. to the extent that I thought of venting the machine to the outside using clothes dryer vent piping. I sent e-mail to Kingwin and the reply was something about chemicals used in manufacturing process. It was hard to understand the reply... just like reading those manuals written by people who think they know English. Bottom line, it was not over heating or anything, but the smell never did go away. I got rid of all the Kingwin stuff at a garage sale taking a huge loss. I'll never buy Kingwin again. I went back to Antec.

@TheGoatMan - good idea... but like mentioned earlier, watch out for those bugs (cockroaches) they just love certain plastics (insulation) and a nice and cosy (warm) area...

@kiddpete - would work also in Chicago... if it wasn't such a high crime area, someone might just walk off with it... *g

@FT099 - yeah, some manufacturers are really crappy, produce the stuff for cents and sell it by the ounce...

@SkipCox - Eccentric? who me? nope I'm plain crazy... (old University nick was CrazyGerman - whoooaaahhh, Go Wildcats Go... (UofA) - ex-Owner of the Blitzkrieg BBS 1985 - 86)...
