Thanks for the laugh.... I do this all the time.... Suprised to see how many QSU60 and QSU61 phones are still used. Was suprised to see some 3900 sets shortly after they came out. As a matter of fact the call center for America's Most Wanted in the back ground are all 3900 sets.

I love it when the receptionist answers on 1 brand of set and the boss picks up on some other set, totaly incompatable

How about when the set rings, but you know its not the correct ring for that type of set.
ER had Norstar sets for a while, but a totally different ring tone.

I can almost always tell what type of phone it is by the ring. Funny how that sticks with you. Nortel, Rolm, NEC etc.

My wife doesn't even watch TV with me anymore because I always point that stuff out. Watched Fringe the other night and noticed they had Cisco sets and Bones must've upgraded because they have Nortel IP now.

Man i can relate to everything you guys are saying but I never did understand why you would see a Nortel set but it would have like a Lucent ring etc. why can't they just use the real ring? I always found that strange...I know someone here remembers on West Wing when they had those M7310's with the line keys that lit up green...the 1st time I saw that I thought Nortel had made something I missed but apparently they were just for the show.

there was a show a while back either grace under fire or the torkelsons (poor family etc.) had a 1A2 keysystem in their house.
How could they afford the Adds/Moves/Changes on it?

….. you hear the number 18 and think yellow/green
….. you hear the word POTS and start trying to figure out the seven digit number.
….. you rate a business based on the type of phone system they have.
….. your wife will not watch a show with you because you don’t quit telling her what phone types they are using.
….. you notice when your favorite shows upgrade their phones.
….. you notice that during the show the ring does not match the phone type.
….. your house has a key system with PA hook up and music on hold.
….. your personal vehicle has a couple of phones in it… Just in case….
….. someone asks you your favorite color and you think blue-orange-green-brown-slate.
….. your garage serves as your parts warehouse.
….. you are of the opinion that if anyone has more than 25 pair of anything it better be a phone cable.

Thats one of my habits, when I see a norstar phone I always check the date and time! I have corrected many of them, even gotten paid while on vacation for correcting one once!
We had dropped our dog off at the vets in my wife's hometown. I went to pick him up for her and noticed the time was wrong on the phone, I asked if I could fix it for them, they said "uh sure", I fixed it, walked out to the car and the vet came running out and he had some MAC work he wanted done lol Paid me 40.00 for making a few line changes on sets!
