I know, I know. Something something something get ground start trunks.

Now that we're past that. Yes, this is yet another post about loop start trunks and disconnect supervision. As you can imagine, it's not working. However, I haven't given up hope yet. I have read here that some have been successful with it behaving at least some of the time, but I have not figured out what the secret sauce for that is yet.

My lines are served directly from the CO and, yes, there is battery drop disconnect supervision. I can confirm it with 1) a butt set, 2) the line side of my toner (it has an LED to indicate power/polarity), 3) a line powered telephone that has an LED to indicate off-hook. They all show battery drop at disconnect, and it feels to be 1 second.

For the route (LD 16), I have NEDC and FEDC set to ETH. For the trunk (LD 14) I have SUPN set to NO. I've tried setting SUPN to yes and playing with the options, as well as playing with the FEDC/NEDC options (though maybe not every combination) without much success. I'm hoping one of y'all might know the trick to convincing this to at least work inconsistently. Alternatively, if you have a contact with AT&T (Pacific Bell territory) that wouldn't mind slipping into the 5ESS that provides me service really quick and provisioning my lines as ground start, that'd work too. :-D

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated!

Is the polarity correct going into the trunk card? NT8D14? Why is MANO set to YES

I believe polarity is correct, but I will double-check to be sure.

MANO is set to yes so that when the trunk is seized via ACOD, there is no EOD delay so that things like vertical service codes (*69 and *70 as an example) can be dialed.

Why XCOT for trunk card type instead of EXUT? What is the part # of the trunk card

The card is an NT8D14BB Rlse 7 Universal Analog Trunk card.

I could try XUT/EXUT trunk type perhaps? I haven't really messed with that setting.

I have never seen them built XCOT, always EXUT. Worth a shot as well as the polarity thing

I am going to give this a shot in a bit and will report back! Thank you for the help, by the way!

OK. I have changed XTRK to EXUT. Unfortunately, no change. Here are updated outputs of LD 14 and LD 16. I'm wondering if I have to play with SUPN settings on the trunk? Hmm...

Forgot to mention, I checked polarity and it's good. I reversed it for giggles and it won't allow any DTMF outpulsing.

I still think SUPN needs to be YES. What is this trunk used for?

The trunk is just used for general inbound/outbound calling. If a call gets dumped to voicemail, I want to make sure it has a chance at releasing.
