yes/no fields

when i add two yes/no fields together (assuming they are both ticked, set to yes) the result comes out as -1. can I change this to a positive number instead of a negative number
 
Sort by date Sort by votes
If both are checked, the sum should be -2.

None-the-less, Jim's suggestion is the answer.
