Has anyone come accross the problem where when you are dialing from outlook (2003) it just does not prefix the number with 9. i have setup outlook/dialing rules to do this but it is just ignored.

Any Ideas

I believe it needs to be set in the Your Assistant Settings where you configure the Switch IP Address, the Directory Number, Dialing Prefix, Extension length and Account code.

It come up at startup unless you checked the box to stop it.

In your MODEM settings, create a rule for dialing out (add 9 as the prefex). It works here just fine. Also make sure your using the right MODEM to do the dialing.

PS, When I say MODEM, I'm not talking about a MODEM. The Mitel TAPI is setup as a MODEM DEVICE in the MODEM properties...

I have exactly the same problem and have tried this solution... any other suggestions would be welcomed.

Outlook will dial with no problems using the MITEL TAPI but only if a 9 is manually inserted.

Then just create a rule to add 9 in your MODEM/TAPI settings. I have it setup here, do you need instructions on how to do that?

yes please - just to check whether what you are doing and what i am doing are two completely different things!

- Click on a contact, and click the phone icon at the top (as if you were going to dial it).
- Click on Dialing Properties.
- Select your location and hit EDIT.
- First box in the DIALING RULES, "To access an outside line for calls, dial: " put a 9 in there.
- OK
- OK
- Start Call

thought as much - tried that before - still doesn't work :O/

Sure it does, I have it working here. What is the responce you get, if any?

nope it don't - the call cannot be completed as dialled - i would guess it is because it isn't inserting the 9 prefix as required

message on screen

phone (5224IP) flashes 'invalid' and then hangs up

Sounds like you are not dialing the same number that you normally would. Do you require the area code first? Is the area code in your string?

same number - requires area code and is being used

works great direct from YA Lite - just not from outlook

area code in my string? i'm using CAT6 cabling not string! :O)

Okay, I have a feeling your dialing something that is not valid against your ARS table, as you stated you are dialing 9.

I would have to see what you are dialing compared to your ARS table.

I can say, I have it working here with no issues.

ARS table?

all i know is that when a 9 is inserted manually in front of the contact number in outlook then it works perfectly.

i have a feeling it is because we are using YA Lite

thanks for your help

No, YA has nothing to do with it. Your string just isn't right. Perhaps you are dialing 9,9,xxx-xxx-xxxx?

nope - it ain't inserting anything!

tell me how to change the string and i will

i have tried to automatically but it isn't inserting anything

i have to insert a 9 manually to dial from outlook
