Greetings:

We recently had our hard drive die on our expressions server.

We had to rebuild xpressions on another hard drive with a backup that we had from 6mos ago.

The problem we are now having is in the picture attachment has anyone here had any experience with this type of problem before.

Thanks in advance, your help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you gone into the 4K at a time of low activity and stopped/restarted CSTA?? I know when I have occasional strange connectivity issues with OSCC they will have me stop and start CSTA to get things resynched. Just prior to that I have also shutdown and restarted OSCC. I would assume the process might be the same for any application that uses CSTA (but I have been wrong before!) :)

Mine only has 1 "Connectivity Adapter" for OSCC, but you might have more than one. I would select the one for Expressions if there is more than one (There may be just one, with more than one application specified). It takes a minute after you push select and then the "Configuration" screen will pop up, and at the bottom status should be "Running". Verify Expressions is listed under "Configured Applications" - if not that may be the wrong one if there is more than one. Otherwise hit "Stop". Give it a good minute to stop, and then hit "Start". Verify status is back to "Running". Do not touch anything else!

Donb still gave not been able to resolve issue want to restart card using bssu but we are not sure if that is a good idea

I'm a bit of a non-conformist. I would yank the card and then plug it back in if there is no valid traffic on it. That gives it a full power cycle reboot instead of just a shutdown and reload "warm boot" type of thing. There can be conflicting viewpoints on that, but if I am having a problem with a board that I can't correct with BSSU I usually opt for the yank and pop - that also cleans up the connections and reseats the card. :)

You might want to give it a few hours for someone on here to scream "oh my god, no!" and give you a valid reason, but I've never been burned doing that yet so I haven't learned my lesson. Keep in mind though, that some types of boards, such as Dual-T1 boards and STMI cards can have more than one circuit or batch of things they are doing. You DO need to make sure the second circuit on the board, or if you have a STMI with some trunking, SIP and HFA on it (or something along those lines) that you be sure it is OK to take down the whole board. For example, my E911 PRI span is on the same board as my RightFax T1 span, so if I yank the board to fix an E911 problem I might also have 5 people in the middle of sending out 300+ page faxes that will be upset if I disconnect them!!! Look before you leap! If Expressions is the only thing on the board I nee no reason not to reseat it.

Don we did another clean install from scratch and the server is up and voicemail goes to expressions.

How do we retrieve the user's and messages from the old harddrive/ backup.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry - I don't actually know Expressions. I was seeing all the CSTA errors in your post and I knew how to reset the CSTA. It's probably a stereotypical assumption, but I would suggest to access whatever media you backed up to and do a restore? Depending on the type of backup you did though you might not want to restore everything - maybe just the database and settings? There are people on here that know more than me about it :) I'm using a different type of voicemail/UM and I make several different types of backups on and off the server, including the standard image backups with daily updates, and an archival backup I can use to restore individual mailboxes, if necessary.

Glad you got it back connected and working though!
