XPHE Outlook Express 6 default mail service 1

after installing office97 outlook became my default mail service, I have uninstalled outlook and constantly chosen OE6 to be my default mail service, but it does not save these settings. When clicking on an email address in a website, the IE6 windows go haywire and open 40 or more windows because of this. How do I return OE6 back to being my default email service? any ideas?

Click on tools in the browser then internet options then programs change the default email to outlook express and apply.

If futuretech204's solution doesn't work, you could try re-setting up the registry keys for a default OE 6 installation, by going to Start, Run, and type in:

msimn /reg

That will set it back to default. THEN try futuretech204's idea.

To xyrx. thanks, the default settings were returned, what I neglected to mention, for futuretech's solution was the internet control panel options had no dropdown selection for default mail service... obviously having become corrupt. Hellow Outlook Express 6! default settings regained.
