XPERT Broadcast

Has anyone had luck with a "Broadcast" setup on OSV with Xpert turrets?

On the 4000 with Tradeboards, I could press one button and the system (actually the DAKS) would place a broadcast.

I would like to do a similar task on XPERT turrets (or from a phone). Seems with the Media Server I should be able to do this, but not proven yet.

They do offer DAKS with OSV. It integrates quite well. It all depends on what you're trying to do.

If you're just looking to broadcast to a group of turrets, you should be able to setup a line that the turrets will pickup on and put it on speaker. You should be able to just dial that extension from a phone or another turret. On the MLC Global Line Properties, you would set the line to continuous or auto-answer. (not 100% certain) You could also pin this line to a SPM on all of the turrets, so that the line goes over the speaker. You'd probably have to tinker with it to get it to behave the way you want, but it don't think you'd need a DAKS as long as the call is staying within the Xpert system.

I'm trying to dial other numbers, not turrets.
IE, Call Dr. Smith and tell him he's no longer on call, we need him.

Ah, so in that case, you'd just need to have the turret dial the intercom feature code and that doctor's extension. That could be programmed on a DKA key. In my system, *62 is Intercom One-Way and *63 is Intercom Two-Way.

But how to get it to play the prerecorded message??

I'm not sure how to get OSV to play a recording from the media server... I'm sure it can be done somehow with a short code. Or you could probably do it with Xpressions if you have that.
