Hi,

i'm trying to make use of SQL mail and getting nowhere. My SQL server is on a workgroup and the mail account i want to use is on a Domain. Although i have the OutLook Client on the same machine as the SQL server it is not recocgnised in the SQL MAil profile.
Will my SQL server need to join thesame Domain or can i work around this?

My server has the following

Win2K Adv Server
SQL 2K Ent
MS Outlook 2K

Thanks for your help.

Have you logged into the machine as the SQL Account to configure Outlook? This will work much easier if the machine is on the domain.

I log on to the machine with an admin account account that also has Local admins on the machine and SQL admins.
I then have to log on to Outlook with the domain account.

I know it would all be easier if we were all on the domain but my customer is a government customer and this is they way they have requested the setup making my lifethat bit more difficult.

Thanks

Dylan

The best approach would be to use your domain account.

You must also use this domain account for the SQL Server and SQL Server Agent services.

The domain account is also the one you need to set your MAPI profile up for. All of these items must me in place in order for SQL Mail to work.

Here is a link on the ins and outs of setting SQL Mail up. I hope it helps!

Thanks
