I have recently built a new PC using Nvidia Nforce 2 Mother Board and an AMD Athlon XP2600+, however it is only registering as an Athlon XP2000+.

I have upgraded BIOS to version 5.2 the latest available.
Manual for Mother Board states that it will support up to athlon XP3000+

Any suggestions, all appreciated

Thanks
Michael

What's your front side buss (FSB) setting in the CMOS?

The mother board supports up to 400 FSB the Chip is 333mhz FSB, but in the BIOS the maxium I can set is 233 FSB.

Standard default should be 166 for the 333fsb XP2.6+ CPU

Why? if m1cKG has an XP2.6+ , nearly all 2.6+ XP's are 333fsb so the board needs setting to 166 (DDR 2 X 166 =333)
I have noticed quite a few Nforce2's have FSB swithches on the moby itself, simple on/off sequence to get the correct setting 100/133/166/200 depending on XP core and memory you are using (you should have PC2700 or PC3200, 333/400)

Set the FSB in the BIOS to 166 this equates to a FSB of 333. Why it does not say 333 is anybodys guess.

Thanks for all the assistance have tried all of your suggestions but it will still only register as an XP2000+?????

Are you sure you are saving the revised bios settings when exiting the bios?
I would sujest seeing if there is a newer bios flash available for you motherboard although I would have thought all Nforce2's should support the XP2.6+ out the box.
Did you check for any dip switches for FSB on the motherboard?
sounds silly but did you check the CPU markings?
Although extremely rare, we have seen a couple of XP CPU's incorrectly "badged" so to speak.
