xp2400 temperture issues

i have a amd xp2400, with copper flow heatsink, 3/4gig ddr2100 mem, 2 hd`s and 2 cd drives, geforce 2 mx440, soudblaster live card. i have q-tec gold 550w dual fan psu. and 3 case fans. i am limited to space so i have a midi case, my cpu temp floats between 50 to 56 degrees. is this normal its running on a asus motherboard. system temp is between 35 - 40 degrees is this normal?

That's not much of a concern; when you get above 60 degrees, that's when you want to start looking at better cooling.

I had an XP 2000+ that sat at 60 degrees and I let it like that so I wouldn't have to listen to those loud fans. 8 months later the chip still runs as great as the day it was purchased.

Yo bro those temp readings are ok, but if you could set your CMOS to shutdown or give you a warning if it reaches 60 and thats ok. Try this, put your unit to a burn test with not aircon or even an electric fan on and keep it running until it shutdown, if it does not shutdown and maintain an average temp of between 50 to 57 during this test and that means you have a mean cooling system. if not try check air docks if they are block specially air dock that provide fresh air to your system and air docks that pull hot air out of your system. I live in the philippines and when its hot its really hot cold climate here is seldom. So just think friends and clients of mine that want their units running smooth even without aircon or electric fan and they run their units for 24hrs a day and still maintain an average temp well...... Good Luck.

If you have an extra bay try getting small fans and make intake fan to help introduce fresh and cold air inside your unit but by doing so you would also need to clean your system more often.

wouldn't worrk there............my 2100+ used to run 55 idle and it never locked up

Dito! as long as your max temps are below say "low 60's C" you have no worries for stabilitiy or processor life.

thanks evryone who gave me some advice, got it down to 47dgrees idle and 52 under load yea !!!!!!!!!!!
