I'm running XP pro with SP-1 and all critical updates. I noticed today that XP will no longer open or create ZIP files. Sending files to a "compressed (zipped) folder" does nothing and creates no kind of error message. Using "extract all" opens the wizard but creates an error message that there are no files to extract. I have Winrar installed and while it isn't configured as default to open ZIP files, it has no problem at all. I use Norton's 2004 with all updates and I use Bulletproof software for spyware removal.Has anybody else experienced this problem? I'd rather not do a system restore until I post here......Checking here first usually saves a lot of time and frustration.

It could be as simple as the XP Zip dll needs re-registering.

Click Start then Run

Type "regsvr32 %windir%\system32\zipfldr.dll" (without quotes) and click OK.

Make sure you have any Explorer/My Computer windows CLOSED.

Now try using the zip feature.
