I just replaced my motherboard and now xp will not boot, but linux does. XP starts to boot, then an error message pops up, but goes away too fast to read and the system reboots. The store I got the motherboard said it was probably becuase of piracy issues built into xp and is apparently a common problem but I can't find anything on the microsoft website about it. There has to be a fix for this somewhere, any ideas?????

Did you install the exact mobo that you had before? I suspect a driver issue.A clean install of windows is almost always a necessity when changing mobos.Different chipsets require different drivers.

xomcat is right.
unless you are changing mb to same mb/chipset you get trouble like this.
Todays mb have a lot of integrated controllers on it.
Do a xp repair installation .
