I received the following error when trying to boot up my XP Machine.

SMART Failure Predicted on Primary Master: WDC WD1200BB-22CAA1

Warning: Immediately back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent.

The machine will not boot in Safe mode either.

There is data on the Machine that I need to save. Can anyone help?

Hi Bookser,

Maybe its best if you get a new Hard drive and load XP or whatever OS on it. Then hook the old drive up as a slave behind the new one and try to salvage the data off it. I have done that hundreds of times saving customers data when the hard drive would not boot at all.

Hope it helps.

Another procedure worth trying is running Chkdsk from the Recovery Console.
