I have a PC running windows XP Home edition, which had crashed; I have now recovered the hard drive and ran a windows repair to get it working again. Every thing seemed OK, until I went to windows update. When I tried to update Internet Explorer with IE6 SP1 I get the following error:-
The procedure entry point CoIntetnetGetSession could not be located in the dynamic link library urlmon.dll. It doesn’t matter how many times I click OK this message does not go away.
Secondly I tried installing XP SP1 and get all the way through the download and installing files before getting the message “Access Denied” and when I click OK it cancels and back out the update.
Anyone have any ideas re either of these problems, your help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance

I am not sure but here is what i would do in this situation. I would go to Control Panel and look for entires called windows xp hotfix. These are updates that are supposedly installed on your system. I would uninstall all of these and run windows update all over again.
Proceed with caution. I would recommend that you take a backup first. You have successfully recovered the hard drive once. You dont want to do it all over again !
So just in case everything fails i would recommend that you take the back up of your data , and then start fresh with a format of your hard disk first and then installing windows. (finally just paste back your data from the backup )
