We have two xp servers, citrix1 and citrix2. besides published apps, users also hit the desktop using custom connections. we want to migrate, using the same hardware, without affecting our users. citrix1 is the db as well as the license server so our thought was to;

Create a cname citrix2 = citrix1.
Shut citrix2 down to make sure everyone can still connect.
Bring citrix2 back on-line remove it from the farm then the domain.
Reinstall windows 2k – to fix a bunch of issues, as citrix2.
Join it to the domain, install pr4.0 and join the current farm.
Move license and db to citrix 2
repeat the process for citrix1

Yup that is the mst sensible way to do it. I would have done it the other way had it not been a clean re-install and just an uprade.

thanks, change of plans. now migrating to 4.5 on w2k3. will the same migration plan work?

I don't see any reason why not. Its a clean install of an O/S just the letters have changed.

Remember to pick the right Install for the O/S though [wink]
