XP shutdown LOOP strange

Customer today showed me a strange problem with a E Machine Running XP

when you go to the start menu and shutdown it shutsdown ok but when it gets to the black page it restarts

Any thoughts on how to correct this ??

You could try right click My Computer - select Properties - Advanced - in Startup and Recovery click Settings - in System Failure untick Automatically restart then click OK. Now, next time the computer crashes you should get an error message. Let us know what it is and we may be able to solve it.

I reckon it's a video driver problem. You could try getting the latest drivers for the graphics card And try updating winxp. See if that clears it up!

Check to see if it is running Roxio's adaptec software. If so run the updates from Roxio's site. This is a link to a site on XP shutdown problem fixes.
