I have two PC's and would like to share a folder on one of them. The PC where the Data is is an XP Home PC. The other PC is XP Pro.

If I create a shortcut to the desktop I can see the folders without problems. However when I go into Word and open the folder I get an error saying - The folder may be located in an unavailable location, protected with a password or the file name contains a / or \.

If I do start Run and type \\IP address the folders and printers pop up in window but if I do \\name I get an error. However I can ping the name and it resolves back to the correct IP address.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Mark

You need to right click on the folder you want to share and set sharing.

If \\IP address works but not \\name check to make sure both pc are in the same workgroup.
