First time post, hope someone can help. I need installation instructions for installing Macola on an XP Server. We're currently running on an NT Box and have had some minor glitches with it and have brought in this new XP. We are not currently enrolled with an exact maintanence program.

What do you mean by XP server? Microsoft has NT, Win2K Server, and Win 2003 Server. Are you running MS SQL? Also, what version of Macola?

I guess what i'm calling a server is pretty much just a pc with an xp professional operating system. It's got 2 hard drives and RAID. So I guess its the XP operating system that I'll need to install Macola onto. Right now we have version 7.5.103d, although I have 7.6.100 on cd but never upgraded our system, it wasn't broke so I wasn't fixing it.

Checking the documentation from the original install, all refers to Pervasive.SQL 2000 on Windows NT 4.0/2000 server.

So can I use the new machine to run Macola and if so can you tell me the proper steps to do it??

thanks

You need to be the logged on as admin rights to Network and PC.

Pervasive 2000 Client
1)Start\Run
\\yourfileserver\pvsw\clients\win\setup.exe
Follow the prompts (may require reboot,

Install Macola Client: "MUST USE MAPPED DRIVE" (Install is under the Macola Root directory)
2)Start/Run
n:\macola76\install\setup.exe
^ = Your mapped Macola Drive (N:) usually (M:)
^^^^^^ = Macola Directory
Follow the Prompts (may require reboot)

Actually I would like to intall Pervasive.sql 2000 on this new machine to act as a server ..not a client.....

I don't believe that P.SQL 2000 is designed to be installed on XP/2000 workstations to act as a server. P.SQL has a seperate workstation product.

If memory serves, you'll need to purchase the pervasive workgroup engine (5 licenses, I think). Macola will only sell you v8.5 & you will have to re-up your license. You'll need a new reg file to operate the software, too. You might be able to find a copy of 2000i or 2000 or v7 workstation engine on the internet. I don't think pervasive is selling it anymore, either. I would be suspect of trying to run an XP machine as a server. I hope you're still not on btrieve 6.15, as I don't remember a workstation engine for that version.
