I have recently experienced problems with my XP install and decided to run a 'Repair' from the installation CD.
All went well until the reboot and the 'Continue Setup...', at which stage the repair fails to find a file and I have to reboot.

The problem I have now is that at each reboot I get the 'Continue Setup...' followed by the failure and I cannot get past this to get back to original install.

Can anyone advise how I can stop the 'Continue Setup..' when Windows XP starts so I can boot to the original 'dodgy' install. I have another XP install in the PC to boot into which is clean. Is the this instruction to continue the set-up in the registery ?

Advice as to how to get around this would be greatfully appreciated.

TIA...Colin

I can boot into my 'good' XP installation. Anyone know what setup files need to be deleted to stop the other install going back into set-up.

Check out the folder which opens when you click on your drive(s) the temp files are usually stored there in a folder. It might have an unusual name. Look at the properties and confirm they were created at the time of the failed install.

If you have edited the Boot.ini file correctly it should not be directing the booting to the failed setup.
