I had a strange thing happen the other day. Did my usual weekly XP update check, found some new stuff(latest security patches) and downloaded. After reboot, XP acted as if I had hadnt registered the product yet, I had to go thru the fill-in-the-fields just like the first time around.
I kinda went thru it and all is ok, everything is okeydoey, but it has just been hanging around in the cobwebs of my head as to what happened...
Just wondering if anyone else has seen this.

I have seen this, as have others, and there really is not a good explanation for it at the moment.

Using microsoft products you can see a lot of strange stuff happening to you OS. So you better use a firewall than downloading XP security updates.

thanx B, Im not worried eveything seems ok.
Funny thing is, in my daily routine of helping others, exactly what you said is what I tell them !!
sigh...the beauty of modern technology.

The other odd consequence of updates recently has been the appearance of "For testing purposes only" on the desktop. (This comes from a BETA testing certificate in your Certificate store -- remove it).
