reads the processor as
x86 Family 15 Model 47 Stepping 0 AuthenticAMD ~1808 Mhz

The Nvdia GeForce 6600 GT reads it correctly as
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+

This wouldn't matter so much but the video games run as if the processor is only 1808 Mhz.

I have a Shuttle Model SN95V30
Did I miss something when I installed Win XP Pro?

If so, can I fix it without reinstalling from scratch?

If this is the wrong forum then please tell me where I should be asking these questions

Thank you,
Jon

If windows xp is reading it wrong then im pretty sure the bios is reporting it wrong. Check inside your bios and ensure it shows the right speed. Also you have the right forum for the question.

Well of course both are correct!
AMD naming system rates this processor equivelent to an Intel 3.0ghz CPU so calls it an Athlon64 3000+
In reality it's actual mhz is a little over 1800mhz.

Understand a CPU's performance is determined in many ways, mhz is only one of many factors.
And believe me when I say this processor is every bit a match for it's Intel rival.
See this chart below for a rundown of technical specs on the A64 range:

Ditto paparazi....your MHz report is correct, it is just that having an AMD Athlon 64 Processor "3000+" you were expecting it to report something else.

why dont you try running CPU-z ? It's a CPU ID recognition tool and does not need to be installed. Jus unzip the file and run the exe. You can find details about it here >>

Even i own an AMD64 3000+ chip ( 1800 MHz Winchester model ) and it gave me the correct specs. About the performace part, it still does manage to do it nicely although i have never compared it with a rival Intel 3.0 Gig chip. ( i'm not sure whether AMD will keep up with Intel's Hyper Threading ability and gigantic 2MB cache but who cares, Im gonna go dual core quite soon ! )

Hope it helped.
