This is probably one of those no-brainer posts, but how do you restart an XP machine when Remotely accessing(RDC) it?

1. To perform a remote restart, we need the administrative permission on the computer which we need to restart.
2. Click Start->Run, type "cmd" without the quotation marks and then press
Enter.
2. Type "shutdown -r -f" without the quotation marks and then press Enter.
3. The computer with Windows XP Pro will be restart.

NOTE: For more information about "shutdown.exe", please simply type "shutdown" and then press Enter in the Command Prompt.

I install this utility, freeware, Slawdog Smart Shutdown, on the all remote computers for this purpose:

Knew it would be easy. Thanks

A quicker way that works for me...

go to- start/settings/windows security- which will bring up the restart/task manager options settings mask. (just like pressing -control alt del- locally)

Both of my suggestions are capable of being added as a new link/shortcut on the desktop.
