I may have asked this before but I can't find the thread or answer. I have XP Pro on one machine and it is now telling me that I have 10 days to change the password. I have another machine with XP Pro and I have had the same password for 3 years. How do I keep the first machine from wanting me to change the password every other month? Does it have anything to do with the two machines being networked together? Any help is appreciated along with a good place to buy a 10 pound sledge hammer.

Well if you don't want the password to expire, go into Computer Management (right-click on My Computer and choose Manage), select "Local Users and Groups", select "Users", double-click on your Username and on the Properties window that appears, tick the box which says "Password Never Expires".

Your password will now never expire.

1. Login with Admin rights.
2. Right-click "My Computer" and select "Manage"
3. Expand the "Local Users and Groups" folder on the left of the "Computer Management" window.
4. Double-clicking on the relevant user id will let you change password requirements as needed.

Thanks for the replies. That should do the trick.
