On wanting to set a static IP on for my computer on my network I went to change the network connections settings only to find my network adapter had gone Awol, although all network facilities still work.
So I tried to re-install the drivers. No network card found. Network setup wizard can't find a network card to do its stuff either.
Command prompt and ipconfig returns all details correctly: (as below)
Windows IP Configuration
Ethernet adapter {3ADAE7A9-1FB7-4587-A419-6C44CDFCC714}:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : mshome.net
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.152
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
So I changed network adapters to a 3com one I have lying around. (The first adapter I don't know the make.)
After some prompting XP found the 3com adapter and installed drivers. All network services work again, but still no NIC card, not even device manager shows a network card. Wierd huh?
Anyone know of the solution, or even of the command line commands to set my IP address to a static address?
