Installed a new 80G HD did a clean install of XP Pro everything is working great... EXCEPT several days ago my new 80G HD is saying that I only have 19.2G of free space which is not correct. Is this some glich in XP? I remember that 95 or 98 did something like this too. Does anyone know how to fix this, if it is even fixable? Does this effect how much I can save to my HD or is this just a reading error? I am not on a network. I hope I don't have to reinstall. Any help would be cool. Thanks

Have you tried running CheckDisk? Might be an error in your file system..?

By the way, to run CheckDisk, go to My Computer, right click on the drive and select Properties, click on the tools tab and select 'Check Now'.

Regards

Thanks to both of you. I did the check disk first nothing changed. Then I ran norton speed disk to defrag - nothing changed. Redid the check disk again rebooted and it was all good. At least if it happens again I'll know what to do(with Windows I'm sure it will). Now its correct 66G instead of 19.2G. Thanks again.
