I am using XP pro and have been connected to the network for quite some time....recently, my connection slowed to a mere crawl. We tested the hub, cables, and the card...all seemed ok. I decided that maybe it was the Lan card and replaced it with a Netgear ethernet card, assuming that the XP drivers would be the difference. I could get a connection unless.....I enabled the onboard Ethernet card, Plugged in the old Ethernet card and.....Installed the New NETGEAR card with the Network cable running from it.
Connection is there, but I don't reallt like 3 ethernet cards on my computer.... I finally disabled the onboard, Removed the old Ethernet and configured the NETGEAR, but again...the connection is crawling....
Does anyone have any idea what I should do from here?
I've switched systems and the other computer accesses the network just fine...it has to be in this XP machine.
Thanks in advance!!!!

where did you disable the onboard network card. BIOS or XP.
Do it in the BIOS, and then uninstall the onboard card drivers. Looks like a conflict

Is there any way to check to see if there are any hidden drivers "floating" around for my Net card?
It is now taking me about 3 minutes to access the server. This is way too long.

Thanks

does that machine also have an internet connection? Perhaps another NIC for a DSL or cable modem?
