Here's the question:

Can you take 2 Athalon XP's and place them into board that supports MP's?

Its just theoretical question that I have been pondering and might try.

Can anyone give me any leads to this?

Yes you can. Newer XP's have the bridge cut on them which takes out the MultiProcessor (MP) configuration capability. Older Durons and Athlons should work right away. You can bridge this missing jumper on a new XP if you would like to run it in dual configuration.

An XP will run as a single processor in an MP board.

Hey thanks this made sense to me but I just wanted to run it by some other people before spending money. As it seems this little bridge problem is one of those things I was hoping someone knew about! Thanks again.
