Hi All

I am using a broadband router to share a cable internet connection for two Pc's.

Both Pc's are connected to the router and picking up their Ip address ok.

One machine is Vista and working other one is xp and not working, I can ping the router from the xp machine but it will not display the routers admin page when I put the ip address into the address bar.

This is driving me mad, should I rebuild the xp pc???????

Cheers
Christy

Can you ping past the router? Can you ping the Vista PC? Did it ever work correctly?

Thnx

When I connect the cable modem direct to the xp pc using the ethernet lead the machine connects to the local area connection and surfs the net ok.

Cheers HTH

Make sure you dont have anything like Norton Internet Security running and causing problems.

Ping a website to see if you are getting a connection to the internet.

When you said that both PC's were connected to the router and getting their IP addresses ok, what IP addrersses were they getting? I would expect 192.168.n.n and a public address of some kind when connected directly to the modem. What type of router and what model number?
